For more than 20 years, Jim has been successfully involved in the general practice of retained exective search and human resource consulting. Prior to starting his firm Barleycorn & Associates in 1981, he was employed with Western Electric and Babcock & Wilcox in various engineering and corporate human resource positions. During this time, Jim was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Reserves, serving as Executive Officer for the 2291st U.S. Army (1000 bed) Hospital. His background includes a Bachelor's degree in engineering and a Master's in human resources.
